AMC has announced the fifth spin-off series of The Walking Dead, Isle of the Dead. Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) are one pair that many never thought they would see together in their own series, but it is true.
There had been rumors that Negan might get a spin-off series, as this character’s fanbase is HUGE, but to see him paired with Maggie Rhee? Color me shocked!
The new series is Isle of the Dead and will be set in a post-apocalyptic Manhattan. This setting will make for a much different series than we’ve seen in the flagship. TWD has been set in the woods, and this will be set in a concrete jungle years after the outbreak.
We already have an idea of what NYC will look like in an apocalypse from movies like Escape from New York, I Am Legend, The Day After Tomorrow, Deep Impact and Independence Day, to only name a few. It will be interesting to see how TWD creators will feature Manhattan in this series.
Fans can now add Maggie and Negan to the list of survivors after the final episode. Since their stories will continue, as will Daryl and Carol in their own series, we can sleep safe in the knowledge at least these four will survive.
The Walking Dead Isle of the Dead
Fans’ reactions to this news were primarily positive. But you have many who do not like Negan that will surely be displeased with this news.
I have to agree with TWalkingDWorld! NO romance between these two characters!
I’m all for the spin-off, but if Maggie & Negan kiss we’re gonna have a problem pic.twitter.com/bishIJNwkZ

Dwight Rovia took a comical approach to show their disapproval.

MeekDeadHead seems excited for Maggie & Negan but not so much for Carol & Daryl.

What if we bring Maggie and Negan to New York for some reason and trap them there with walkers?
Yea who cares at this point, just green light it! #twd pic.twitter.com/QwH8ojbMcK
I also agree with WalkerWyn. Give me ALL the TWDU content.
I will take all the #TWD content I can get. Maggie/Negan spin-off, Carol/Daryl spin-off, Tales of the Walking Dead? Sign me up for ALL OF IT.

Lauren and Jeffrey are phenomenal actors, and I’m SO thrilled to see their stories aren’t over just yet. 💯 https://t.co/EzwzEgdPaa
Honestly, all these TWD spin offs have me excited.

The main show coming to an end is sad...but the fact that stories will continue, and we don't have to say goodbye to characters that are so loved eases the blow.
Leo, aka Negan Street, has a valid point.
Everyone is mad at amc for announcing the survival of two major characters when the fans being posting shit ton of spoilers from the final episodes
