It’s hard to believe that this series will be coming to an end. We’ve known for quite some time that this is happening but to hear that the final episode is filming is a considerable blow nonetheless. While the fandom is far from over, the loss of the flagship series will see many fans leave as the main series is what they were here for.

Over the years, we’ve seen many characters come and go, with many actors going on to amazing new projects. It is so exciting to see so many of our beloved actors experience well-deserved success.

The Walking Dead final season

AMC aired episode 11 of 24 episodes of the final season on Sunday, March 6, so there is still more to the story, but the end is drawing near. Fans will have Tales of the Walking Dead in the summer of 2022, Fear the Walking Dead, the Daryl and Carol spin-off and movies to come. But, none of these will compare to the main series that just hits different.

Another sad note has to do with the community of Alexandria. Located in Senoia, Georgia, a small town that has become the heart of The Walking Dead, Alexandria can be viewed from Main st and is a destination for fans of the series. The location manager for TWD, Michael Riley, applied to the City of Senoia to allow the street closure to remain in place until June 2022. After this time, the community of Alexandria will be only a memory.

The end is drawing near, and it will be difficult to say goodbye to a series that has been part of our lives for 12 years.
