Who plays Max on The Walking Dead?

The Walking Dead may be in its final season, but that hasn’t stopped the series from introducing new characters to the delight of fans. In fact, the upcoming episode “Warlords” will see many new faces. One character originally heard way back in season 9 was Stephanie, but we have now learned her name is Max, and she is Mercer’s sister. Who portrays this character?

Stephanie’s voice was first heard back in season 9 but only by viewers. Eugene finally contacted her in the season 10 episode “Bonds.” They were both excited to contact someone outside of their current communities, but she was reluctant to disclose information about where she lived while Eugene was forthcoming with his location.

This correspondence would eventually lead to Eugene, Ezekiel, Yumiko, and their new friend Princess being captured by the Commonwealth, the community in which Stephanie/Max lived. Then the truth would come out that the girl Eugene was introduced to in the Commonwealth as Stephanie was a plant who was using him to extract information about Alexandria for the Dep. Governor, Lance Hornsby.

The actress who portrays Max on The Walking Dead is Margot Bingham. She is known for her roles in Boardwalk Empire, The Family, Queen Sugar, One Dollar, She’s Gotta Have It and New Amersterdam. Next, she will star in the TV crime thriller Leopard Skin and a comedy film, Dotty & Soul. 

What is next on The Walking Dead for Max and Eugene?

Eugene has been hurt by the first woman he was introduced to as Stephanie, played by Chello Ramos, who is really a woman named Shira. She tricked Eugene into thinking she was the woman he talked to on the radio and entered into a relationship with her.

There was much confusion within the fandom when Ramos’ Stephanie was introduced, as everyone knew Bingham voiced this character in seasons 9 and 10.

When he was approached by Max, who viewers knew was the voice of Stephanie, and she explained what had transpired, he was shocked to learn there was no real Stephanie.

In the most recent episode, “The Lucky Ones,” viewers were treated to the story via Max’s POV as she used found parts to make her radio and contact Eugene and seeing him with another woman posing as Stephine. Her brother, Mercer, the General of the Commonwealth army, was investigating someone in contact with an outsider via a radio. He warned her, and she knew she had crossed a line.

Eugene apologizes for his ungentlemanly conduct at the end of the episode and explains why he was so cold towards her. As they continue their conversation, it is obvious these two characters are so much alike, and things may be able to be repaired between them.
