The Walking Dead series fans are well aware that season 11 of the series will be the final. With 11 episodes remaining, it is understood that there could be many shocking occurrences in a last season. Viewers could see some significant deaths, but AMCs announcements keep dwindling the list of possible character deaths.

When AMC announced the final season, this also came with the news that Carol and Daryl would go on their own adventures with a spinoff that would focus on those characters. So, this told fans that these two characters would survive. That information wasn’t too surprising as fans have long cried, “If Daryl dies, we riot,” and that goes for Carol as well.

AMC has announced many other spinoffs, but none would spoil anything in the final season until now.

The Walking Dead spinoff series

Recently it was announced that a fifth spinoff series titled Isle of the Dead will release in 2023. This was exciting news as fans hope the universe will continue for many years to come.

But, the focus of the series has spoiled the fact that two other characters will survive the end of the series. Isle of the Dead will be a Maggie and Negan-centric series set on the island of Manhattan.

There had been talks of a possible Negan spinoff, giving fans of the character hope they would see him again after the ending of the original series. But, until this announcement, it was only speculation and fans wishing and hoping it would happen.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who portrays Negan in the flagship series, was also shocked at this announcement. He shared his thoughts during The Rick Eisen Show, stating:

"Now that we’ve announced that there’s going to be a spin-off, I guess we know Negan doesn’t die. Spoiler Alert, folks. Sorry! I’m still not sure why we announced that already. It was sort of a shocker to me."

This now gives fans four major characters we don’t have to worry about losing in the final season. It seems AMC has gotten soft where this series is concerned. Gone are the surprise shocking deaths and now we know so much before the episodes even air.

You can listen to the whole interview below where Morgan also discusses the filming of the final episode of the series and his Seahawks disappointment. He also stated that the new series will be filming in Manhattan, which will keep him closer to home.
