The Walking Dead

If you have vulnerabilities, prepare for your enemy to try to exploit them.

If you hadn’t watched this week’s Walking Dead, you might be asking yourself how the hell Daryl and Rosita got convinced by Sebastian to take on such a stupid mission in the first place. The short answer is their kids.

Sebastian had told Daryl and Rosita that if they did as he asked, he could make things easier for Judith, R.J., and Coco. But, within that offer was the implied threat that he could make their lives more difficult.

Did he mean it that way? Honestly, I doubt it. Sebastian seemed legitimately surprised when Daryl assumed he was making threats and was quick to assure him that he was merely suggesting that he could make the kids’ lives easier.

However, even if Sebastian didn’t intend to hurt the kids, we know that other people in The Walking Dead have certainly wanted to hurt their brother in the past and did so with the intent of wanting to use hurting Carl to hurt Rick.

This is because many hostiles in a zombie apocalypse will want to use whatever is available to them to hurt you, and, should they discover you have some kind of weakness, they will seek to exploit it on you.

The best way to prepare yourself against this is to have someone constantly guarding whatever or whoever your weakness might be or make sure that whoever could be considered your “weak point” is also prepared for your enemy. I imagine that if someone came for Judith and R.J., there’s a good chance they would find a nasty surprise in the form of Judith’s sword. That is what you want, for those you would risk everything to protect to be ready, willing, and able to defend themselves so that you don’t have to lose sleep worrying that they may be vulnerable and so that attempts by your enemies to exploit them, wind up backfiring.
