The fourth season of The Walking Dead began airing on AMC on October 13, 2013, and concluded on March 30, 2014. This season consisted of 16 episodes with material adapted from the Comic series issues #40-61.

This season begins several months after the Governors attack on the prison and sees Rick trying to live a more peaceful life. He has let others help with the leadership roles and has taken up farming. The prison community has grown considerably.

This season also sees the flu outbreak at the prison and Carol’s exile from the group.

While all that is going on, the Governor experiences some significant lows and then regroups and creates a new army that he convinces that Rick’s group are horrible people and need to be destroyed.

The Walking Dead season 4

We see Hershel killed by the Governor, the Governor is killed, and the prison falls, scattering our survivors.

This leads to the second half of the season and the road to Terminus. We find out which characters survived the prison attack and who they are traveling with. Along the way, many encounter some unsavory characters like Rick, who is with Carl and Michonne, and they meet the Claimers for the first time. The good news is Tyreese escaped with Lizzie, Mika and a very alive Judith. This group meets up with Carol but ends up having a horrible time in “The Grove” episode.

Glenn teams up with Tara, who was formerly on the Governor’s side but did not know his true nature. They meet Abraham, Eugene and Rosita in their travels. Maggie, Bob and Sasha end up together.

Beth and Daryl travel together for a time until she is kidnapped, and Daryl ends up with the Claimers. That leads him to Rick, Michonne and Carl and their horrible second encounter with the Claimers.

The season ends with everyone together at Terminus when Rick says, “they’re screwing with the wrong people.”
