This week’s episode of The Walking Dead, “Trust,” focused on several storylines with heavy topics. It began with Hornsby and many Commonwealth Troops, including Daryl, arriving at Riverbend to assess the damage.

He is suspicious of Aaron and Gabriel but can’t prove anything. This leads them to Hilltop in search of the residents of Riverbend responsible for killing all of his troops. Maggie is reluctant to allow them entry into Hilltop, but Daryl intervenes to keep the peace and the body count at bay.

We also see Kelly, Connie, Eugene and Rosita meet to discuss the underhanding things at the Commonwealth and how they can figure out what is really going on. Eugene involves Max, who discussed things with her brother Mercer. Mercer and Princess are now a thing that is what the fandom has wanted to see.

Ezekiel lets Tomi and Carol in on his efforts to help people. And, we see Leah again, this time in a conversation with Hornsby.

Several characters could be given the MVP in this week’s episode: Ezekiel for helping others, Tomi for risking much to do the surgery, Daryl for trying to keep the peace, etc. Still, one guy often keeps to the background that really stepped up this week.

THE MVP FOR TRUST IS – ELIJAH

The Walking Dead Elijah

Okea Eme-Akwari currently plays Elijah, but the first time we see him, he was played by Joshua Lamboy.

Elijah was first introduced in the trailer for the season 10 episode “A Certain Doom and this masked person had everyone guessing his identity, with guesses ranging from Duane Jones to Morgan Jones to Maggie Rhee. In the episode, he first saved Aaron and Alden in the woods, and then he was with Maggie as they saved Gabriel.

The next time we see him is in the season 10c episode “Home Sweet Home.” We learn that he was part of Maggie’s group who resided at Meridian that the Reapers overtook.  The Reapers Elijah’s sister Josephine and he wanted revenge for her death. After the Reapers battle, he joined Maggie and others at Hilltop, which wasn’t a surprise as he is always very loyal to Maggie.

In this week’s episode, he stood at the gates of Hilltop with Maggie as she decided whether or not she would allow Hornsby, Daryl and the other Commonwealth trooper to enter the community. The next time we see him, he is protecting Hershel from Hornsby.

He wasted no time throwing Hornsby up against the side of a building when he thought Hornsby was threatening the child. He didn’t back down even though every CW gun was aimed at him. He showed his loyalty to Maggie and her son and his bravery to do the right thing without regard for his own welfare.

I imagine not many people have ever treated Hornsby in that fashion. At least not while he has been in the position he is at the Commonwealth. As viewers see the snake that Hornsby is and the lengths the CW will go to, even threatening kids, it’s good to see someone stand up to Hornsby.

Next. Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Hilarie Burton Morgan up to more mischief. dark
