It is always fun seeing actors on The Walking Dead with their families. They give fans glimpses into their lives with posts on social media showing that they are ordinary people. There have been a few actors whose family members have joined them in the series. A few of them have been Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s wife and son, Austin Amelio’s son and Khary Payton’s daughter.

In a recent interview with AMC.com, Payton, who portrays King Ezekiel, talked about having his daughter on the set with him. He was asked about how it came about to have her play the role of the cute little girl dressed as Mercer for the carnival. It was a simple need for a babysitter that found the10 year old on set that day.

He explained to her that she could have fun but needed to conduct herself in a professional manner. She created a whole story for her character, and no one told her to do this; it was all on her own. Jon Amiel, the director, was impressed and told Payton that it was all her; he didn’t direct her to do any of the things she was doing. It turned out to be a great scene, and her reactions were amazing.

Khary told AMC:

"I was so proud because she was telling a story, not caring about whether the camera caught it or not. She was going to tell her story, and to me, that’s an artist and a professional."

He also commented that he hopes she chooses engineering or possibly executive producing but would support whatever she chooses as she is obviously passionate about telling the story.
