Walking Dead alum Steven Ogg cast in new crime drama Now I See
By Renee Hansen
Steven Ogg is known in The Walking Dead world for his portrayal of Simon, the right-hand man to the Savior’s leader Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan). First introduced in season six, Simon would survive until he betrays Negan in season eight. Since departing the series, Ogg has done many memorable roles, and Deadline reports that he has been cast in a new crime drama.
Simon was a sadistic, brutal man who had an unnerving sense of humor. He was very loyal to Negan until he wasn’t, which ended up getting him killed. But, during the time that he served Negan well, he was the man who would do whatever the leader required, no questions asked. His tactics were even considered too violent by Negan, this coming from a man who welded a barbed wire-covered bat as his weapon of choice.
Ogg’s portrayal of Simon was very well done, making him a character you loved to hate. His death was brutal, and his reanimated self was chained to the Sanctuary fence, making for a very cool ending.
Steven Ogg – Now I See
Ogg has been cast with his Showpiercer co-star Annalise Basso, and they are joined by Tracy Campbell, Jay Huguley, Denise Smolarek and newcomer Avalon Reign in the new crime drama, Now I See.
The series will tell the story of Claire (Basso), a blind woman with a six-year-old daughter, Briar (Reign). She is overcautious of her daughter, and when she goes missing on Christmas Day, Claire faces her fears and sets off into the darkness to find her. The police aren’t taking things as seriously as she would like, so she and her boyfriend, Beck (Campbell), take matters into their own hands. Ogg plays Sheriff Walker Donley, with Huguley playing Officer Hooper Miller, assigned to the case.
Next, Ogg will star in Apple TV+’s Emancipation and a cyberpunk indie The Dresden Sun.
He is also known for his roles in Better Call Saul, The Short History of the Long Road, The Tick, Westworld and Rush: Inspired by Battlefield.
