The Walking Dead

For the things you can’t control, control how ready you are.

There are many things in this world that none of us can control — The weather, animals, what is or isn’t around us, other people, etc. — but there is one thing that, even in a zombie apocalypse, we can control: Us.

We can control how good of shape we’re in, how fast we run, and how skilled we are. We can control how much we know our environment, how diligent we are about getting supplies, how prepared we are, and what we prepare for.

While there will always be random things whose presence we can’t predict, we can know that it’s possible, and if we know it’s possible or even probable, we can prepare for it, and if we can prepare for it, we can control what we do should these things happen.

Surviving a zombie apocalypse isn’t (and can never be) about controlling all the millions of variables around you. Still, it is about managing yourself, controlling the kind of person you become, and how you both prepare for and react to the world around you, and the millions of things going on in it. If you can master that and teach that to the rest of your group, you can put yourself in the best position possible to survive.

And that’s our Walking Dead Survival Rule Of The Week! No matter what, whether you’re in a zombie apocalypse or not, there will always be things that are beyond our control. You can try to control them, but you’ll never succeed. You’re much better off controlling yourself to prepare and react to those things you can’t control. If you want to make yourself a better survivor, why not pick up a copy of my book, The Rules: A Guide To Surviving The Zombie Apocalypse! You can also get it at Amazon here, on iTunes here!
