Tales of the Walking Dead wraps filming on season 1
By Renee Hansen
According to showrunner Channing Powell, The Walking Dead spinoff series, Tales of the Walking Dead, has wrapped filming for its first season. A teaser trailer for this series was revealed during the midseason finale of The Walking Dead, which didn’t show much but has gotten the fandom excited for this new chapter in The Walking Dead universe.
Tales of the Walking Dead is just one of several spinoffs in the works in TWDU. This series will be unique as it is an anthology series where each episode features a new story surrounding new characters. These characters can be new to the franchise or established characters within The Walking Dead world. It is an outstanding concept for a series that has the potential to be something truly incredible.
Powell serves as showrunner and has previously written, or co-written, many episodes of The Walking Dead and two episodes of the first spinoff, Fear the Walking Dead. It is exciting to have someone very ingrained in TWDU helm this series. Walking Dead universe director Michael Satrazemis has directed three episodes, with Haifaa al-Mansour, Deborah Kampmeier, and Tara Nicole Weyr directing the other three. Weyr has previously directed Fear the Walking Dead.
