As The Walking Dead airs its final season, there are storylines that fans want to see played out. Throughout this series, many characters’ stories have been dropped. Ones who immediately come to mind are Eduardo (Peter Zimmerman), Kal (James Chen), and, more recently, Luke (Dan Fogler) and Jules (Alex Sgambati). One character’s story that fans are really interested in is Heath (Corey Hawkins).

Often, these characters are mentioned in an interview, and creators will passively comment, oh, they are alive and living here or there but come on, the Hilltop is literally a house surrounded by a fence; if Eduardo and Kal were still living there, we would know.

On the other hand, Heath had been on a two-week scavenging mission with Tara (Alanna Masterson) in the season 7 episode “Swear” and goes missing, and no one ever mentions him again.

The Walking Dead – Heath

On the final day of their scavenging, Heath and Tara come upon a bridge barricaded with garbage dumpsters, cars and tarps. Walkers overrun them, and as they try to fight them off, Tara goes off the side of the bridge, eventually making her way to Oceanside. Heath is never to be seen again.

When Tara returns to the last spot she saw Heath, she finds the RV they had been traveling in gone, his broken glasses and a badge with “PPP” on it. She returns to Alexandria alone, and not one person asks about Heath’s fate. Granted, the community is overcome with grief over the losses of Denise, Abraham and Glenn, but that doesn’t make Heath’s disappearance any less important.

You know what Abraham would say about these types of loose ends!

Showrunner Angela Kang did confirm that Heath was taken by Jadis and traded to the CRM. But, the creators have had two series, The Walking Dead and World Beyond, where this storyline could have been addressed. Fans would most likely be satisfied with the telling of the story if it couldn’t be shown. It disrespects the character and actor to leave things unresolved for characters who go missing as Heath did.
