Who plays Charlie on Fear the Walking Dead?
By Renee Hansen
AMC is airing the second half of season 7 of the first Walking Dead spinoff series, Fear the Walking Dead. This series began in 2015 and will continue as it has been renewed for an eighth season. The most recent episode, “Mourning Cloak,” focused on Charlie, a young girl who has been on the series for quite some time but never truly highlighted.
The tenth episode of the seventh season was directed by Lennie James, who plays Morgan Jones in The Walking Dead universe. He is one of several crossover characters first featured in TWD and then crossovers to Fear TWD in its fourth season.
Charlie first appeared in season 4 when our survivors lived in the Dell Diamond community. At some point during the outbreak, her parents were killed in front of her, and she had to watch them reanimate, an experience that has left her scarred. She was adopted by Ennis and taken in with his group, the Vultures.
Fear the Walking Dead – Charlie
Alexa Nisenson portrays the role of Charlie. She is well known for her role as Georgia in Middle School: The Worst Years of My Life. The New York Times mentioned her in their film review, stating, “She is blessed with the best lines, comic and dramatic, and appears delightfully cognizant of the fact. If only the movie had more of her
Her first role was in the series Constantine, where she played Geraldine. She has also starred in Good Behavior, Will & Grace, Fist Fight and Summer Island Camp. She starred opposite Academy Award winner Jon Voight in the feature film Orphan Horse, which follows a runaway girl who hides in a horse trainer’s barn and befriends his troubled filly.
As season 7 of Fear the Walking Dead continues, Charlie’s fate will be seen. During “Mourning Cloak,” she was exposed to high amounts of radiation and is gravely ill.
If she survives, she will be reunited with Madison (Kim Dickens), a character set to return this season. This reunion will be interesting as Charlie killed Madison’s son Nick (Frank Dillane) in an earlier season, and this information will be a blow to the woman who has always lived every day for her children.
Alexa Nisenson has done a fantastic job in her portrayal of Charlie. All we can do now is wait and see what fate awaits her character.
