This week’s episode of Fear the Walking Dead, “Mourning Cloak,” saw Charlie (Alexa Nisenson) arrive at Strand’s tower under the guise of wanting to live there. She took on a mission to prove her allegiance to Strand and was accompanied by Ali (Ashton Arbab), a young ranger in training. This mission resulted in Charlie being exposed to radiation and becoming gravely ill. Will that take away some of the impact of Madison’s (Kim Dickens) return if she dies?

Charlie has been a fixture on the series for quite some time. She was introduced in season 4 and is a child of the apocalypse with vague, if any, memories from the time before the outbreak. She has been taught survival skills by many people along her journey and is an asset to whoever she sides with as she can sneak into places others are unable to.

In this week’s episode, she actually experiences a bit of what it is to be a kid. As she turns 13, she experiences bowling, her first kiss, and puppy love. This is sadly accompanied by a considerable loss. Granted, she only knew Ali for a short moment, but first kisses and puppy love were very impactful if you remember back to when you were a kid.

Fear the Walking Dead Madison’s return

Fans of Madison Clark were thrilled when it was announced that she would make her return to the series. As the leader of our survivors, she was a voice of reason and a powerful force who stood up for what she believed, and she was someone who would die for those she loves, especially her children.

Many viewers expressed interest in her returning to the news of her son Nick’s (Frank Dillane) death. This will be a severe blow to her. The other component is that Charlie, Nick’s killer, is still living among the group. Not only that, Alicia (Alycia Debnam-Carey) has forgiven Charlie.

With Charlie’s life hanging in the balance, there has been much chatter about Madison’s return being less impactful if Charlie does die before her return. Viewers want to see Madison exact revenge on Charlie for the killing of her son.

But would Alicia and the others allow Madison to kill Charlie? She has been a part of their world for a long time. She was very young when she killed Nick, and this occurred after she watched him kill Ennis, someone Charlie looked on as a parental figure.

Madison’s return will be impactful no matter which way it happens. Alicia and the others believe she died at the Dell Diamond, so to have her return after so many years will be a shock to everyone. Let’s hope we get good answers to where she has been all this time.
