Walking Dead: AMC and TWD addresses spinoff news fan response
By Renee Hansen
The Walking Dead fandom was hit with a severe blow this week with news that Melissa McBride would no longer be able to star in the spinoff series that would feature her character Carol and Norman Reedus’ Daryl.
Sadly, some people decided to take a negative approach to express their displeasure at this news. This made for a sad day in TWD Family, as this family is based on love and acceptance, and it is vital that fans work hard to keep it that way.
Below is the thread released by AMC and TWD via Twitter in response to the negativity surrounding this announcement.
The Walking Dead franchise
The Walking Dead franchise is so successful because it creates incredible characters who are relatable and stories that draw viewers in and bring them back for more. Add to that, the actors who are chosen for these roles have done an outstanding job of bringing life to the characters and have dedicated so much time, many of them years, to this series.
As fans, we need to find ways to lift the actors, crew, creators, and every person involved in a series that has created TWD Family, which is a unique group. Sometimes our emotions get the better of us because we are so devoted to The Walking Dead universe.
But, let’s take that dedication and do things in a more positive manner and honor the people who have made something so special and unique, and be happy that we are a part of that.
The Walking Dead series will return to AMC in the fall of 2022 with its final eight episodes of the series. Let’s continue to celebrate a show that has entertained us for 12 years and a fandom that will live on long after the final episode airs.
