Last week’s episode of Fear The Walking Dead, for the first time this season, brought attention to Luciana and Daniel, the latter of whom has been spiraling deeper into confusion since his memory lapse in episode 610, “Handle With Care.” Daniel’s quest to regain his cognitive abilities leads himself, Luciana, and Wes into a run-in with the Stalkers, who attempt to extract information on the group’s movements as they prepare for war against Strand.

This would be a brisk rundown of last week’s episode, but anyone could give you that, and that’s not what I’m here for. I’m here for all the things that such a rundown would overlook: The hints, clues, trivia, references, and little details that give us a more complete story across the season. For example, throughout this episode, we get reminders of losses to the group over the previous four seasons that, up to now, have gone relatively unmentioned. This reminds us that those who’ve died on the show have not been forgotten and continue to drive our characters’ decisions into the present. These are the things that I search each episode for and an ordinary synopsis might forget.
