Fear the Walking Dead’s latest episode, “Sonny Boy,” saw baby Mo come up missing, John Dorie Sr. tries to get on Strand’s good side, if there is one and Howard comes under Strand’s scrutiny as being disloyal.

Tread lightly, as the remainder of this article will contain spoilers for Fear TWD’s 712 episode “Sonny Boy.”

This week was a wild ride of an episode as the Tower was alerted to the fact that baby Mo was somehow missing from her crib. This put everyone into action in search of the missing child. With a war about to break out between Alica and Morgan’s group and Strand’s Tower group, the child’s welfare is at the forefront of many people’s minds.

This week’s MVP was very brave, and although things ended badly for them, they did what they needed to protect Mo and ended up a hero because of their actions.

Fear the Walking Dead’s casting crew did an outstanding job in placing Keith Carradine in the role of John Dorie Sr. This character was an excellent fit for him, and what a privilege to add him to TWD Family of actors.

Father of John Dorie, a fan-favorite who Garret Dillahunt played, Dorie Sr. was a great sidekick to his late son’s wife June (Jenna Elfman). Both of these characters mourned the loss of John and experienced life-altering changes in the bunker after the nuclear bombs were detonated.

Once they were situated at Strand’s Tower, a place neither of them wanted to be, they made the most of the situation, and in this most recent episode, Dorie Sr. found an opening to get closer to Strand. In “Mourning Cloak,” Dorie Sr. sided with Howard, which shocked June, but he later explained that he had to get in Strand’s ear if they really wanted to see positive change at the Tower.

This week’s episode saw Dorie Sr. plant a walkie in Howard’s room to make Strand distrust him. Strand’s paranoia increased as things progressed, and his faith in Doris Sr. grew. But, he expected him to prove his faithfulness by throwing Howard off the roof.

He discovered it was June who took Mo and hid her, intending to remove her from the Tower and place her back in Morgan’s care to keep her safe. Mo was Strand’s security, knowing Morgan wouldn’t attack with the child inside.

Dorie Sr. confided in June that he got radiation poisoning when he retrieved Charlie from the building. He volunteered to take Mo through the horde of walkers to Morgan and, in the process, was bitten. He then sacrificed himself to allow Morgan and Mo to escape.

This will shift things in the war that is brewing. The remaining five episodes in this season of Fear the Walking Dead should ramp up the action as the battle begins.
