Fear the Walking Dead – Sonny Boy

1) This week’s “Previously” focuses on Strand demanding Morgan give him Mo (from “The Tower”) and Charlie revealing to Ali that she was sent to the tower by Morgan to shut off the beacon and rescue Grace and Mo. June tells Howard Strand needs her more than he needs Howard and that she will keep Charlie under her care, and John Dorie Sr. tells June he needs to get into Strand’s ear (all from “Mourning Cloak”). And Wes is using the callbox to tell Strand he wants to make a deal (from “Ofelia”).

2) As the episode begins, we see the rangers searching the belongings of various survivors in the tower, finding walkie-talkies on three of them. The last one says that just because she’s got a walkie doesn’t mean something (she’s thrown from the roof before she finishes her sentence). Looking at this from Strand’s perspective, why would she have a walkie-talkie if not to have illicit communications with someone? Why wouldn’t Strand deem her potentially hostile if she’s hiding the walkie?

3) Also, how did she use the walkie-talkie? Howard had to cut the mattress to even get to it. A walkie is kind of useless if you can’t get to it.

4) This episode’s title sequence features a silhouette of John Sr. at the edge of the roof of the tower, with the overpass behind him, looking down at the walkers reaching out for him below, on a blue background (where you can see that it’s raining), as the edges of the title card burn, and the normal theme plays.
