The Walking Dead series will air its final episode this year. Fans have high expectations for the end of the long-running series, but will any ending live up to what is expected? Most likely not. This series has run for 12 years, and even though it has its flaws, die-hard fans love it anyway. The excitement is building as only eight episodes remain in the entire series.

The final season of The Walking Dead has been broken into three segments. Part 1 was released in August 2021 and saw a huge focus on a group known as The Reapers, the dire conditions at Alexandria, and the introduction of the Commonwealth.

Part 2 began airing in February 2022 and saw the end of the Reapers, and much more was revealed about the Commonwealth, its hierarchy and underhanded dealings.

The Walking Dead part 3

The final eight episodes of The Walking Dead series, known as part 3, hasn’t been given an official release date yet. In April, AMC announced that along with the epic final part of the series, it would conclude with an equally epic live fan event that will take place in November in Los Angeles. No other information has been released for the fan event.

If the final episode will release in November and if you count back eight weeks for the eight episodes, this puts the premiere for part 3 in late September or early October. This is about the time that a regular season of the series would premiere. So, viewers still have a bit of a wait before the final segment of episodes will be released.

In the meantime, Fear the Walking Dead is airing its seventh season on AMC and AMC+. This summer, a new spinoff, Tales of the Walking Dead, will premiere. This is an anthology-based series consisting of six episodes, each telling a different story.
