AMC aired Fear the Walking Dead’s fourteenth episode of season 7, “Divine Providence,” Sunday night, and fans had major reactions. This episode finally saw the battle for the Tower commence, or did it?
Alicia and her army consist of what remains of Morgan’s group and the remaining Stalkers, formerly led by Arno. They arrive at the Tower, whose first line of defense, the mote of walkers, is gone as the whole horde decided to follow Morgan, for some reason, as he left with baby Mo after John Dorie Sr’s act of heroics.
Strand invites Alicia to talk over a drink, and everyone is fine with this. No one questions Alicia’s safety in meeting with a man who has been ordering people thrown off the roof of his tower on a consistent basis. Except for poor Daniel, who is still searching for his long-dead daughter Ofelia. Oh, and Wes is a bad guy now.
The episode, whose synopsis tells that the battle will heat up, never really sees a battle but a minor altercation within the Tower that ends with Wes being killed and the Tower catching on fire.
Fear the Walking Dead season 7 episode 14
The main problems with this episode include Strand not deciding if he is good or bad and Wes not being believable as a bad guy.
Strand killed Will and did other things to keep Alicia away from him, knowing that she would be the key to his undoing. She brings out the good in him, and to run the Tower how he wants, he can’t tap into the good side but needs to be the selfish, evil con-man. He should know what would happen next by bringing her into the Tower for a friendly drink.
Three episodes ago, Wes was appalled at Luciana for taking advantage of Daniel, whose mental health is declining, lying about his dead daughter. So much so that he took off on his own. Then he shows up at the Tower and settles in as Strand’s right-hand man. One lie vs. all of the evil Strand does daily; doesn’t add up. Sure, he stated that at least Strand is honest about who he is and what he does, but a character like Wes, who was always searching for people who do good, doesn’t make that drastic transformation overnight.
Those are only two of the significant problems with this week’s episode.

I don’t get how it would be so hard to get new writers for a show. Many great, well-written shows on AMC were cancelled but FearTWD can continue with such random writing that makes no sense. @AMC_TV listen to your viewers as change is needed.#FearTWD #FearTheWalkingDead

Episodes 12-14 have some of the dumbest shit I've ever seen in TV. What the show runners have done to this utterly unique show this once was in Seasons 1-3 is devastating. What I've been hearing about Ep 15 doesn't sound much better either. #FearTheWalkingDead https://t.co/JTk28pXAfH

I have no words for ep 14. What the hell? Every week is like it can't get any worse... then it gets worse. #FearTWD #FearTheWalkingDead

the whole showdown between Wes and Strand was just a rehash of Strand and Ginny. Are the showrunners of #FearTheWalkingDead capable of writing ANYTHING original? Or are fans just going to be forced to watch the same storyline over and over with interchangeable characters?#FTWD
