Fear the Walking Dead season 7 episode 15

Your body won’t let you give up.

One of the things that I appreciated about this week’s Fear TWD was the presence of “Little Alicia.” More than anything else, she represented the part of Alicia that would not let her give up anything. Whenever she wanted to bail on Strand, her younger self wouldn’t let her; when she said she couldn’t keep going, Little Alicia convinced her otherwise. And when Alicia blacked out, her younger self (i.e., her self-preservation instincts) ensured he fought off the dead or made her way back to the MRAP.

The point of all this is: It’s tougher for you to give up in a zombie apocalypse than you might think. A little bit later, I’ll talk about how there may be a part of you that might try to convince you otherwise, but rest assured, there will also be a part of you that, whether consciously or unconsciously, will do everything in its power to convince you not to give up.

We all have it in us. Whenever you do something dangerous, even when you were a kid, there was, and will always be, a part of you that tells you to stop. It’s our survival instincts, constantly working to keep us going, constantly telling us to get up and keep fighting.

In the zombie apocalypse, especially when things are down, you need to listen to that part of you; even when you might consciously think of giving up, or when you aren’t even conscious, it will be fighting for you, urging you not to give up. If you ever wonder whether or not to keep going, listen for that instinct; it will pull you through.
