Fear The Walking Dead, SROTW: Giving Up Is Not An Option
By Liam O'Leary
Fear the Walking Dead
Don’t give up on yourself.
If I’m being honest, when you give up in a zombie apocalypse, what you’re really giving up on is you. When you give up, what you’re saying is that you don’t think you are worth trying to fight for, whatever you are, the good you’ve done or may do in the future, isn’t worth carrying on for and that it’s easier just to let yourself die than try to go on living.
There will be a part of you that will do its damnedest to try to convince you just how much easier that is, especially in the apocalypse There’s a chance that, somewhere in the back of your mind, will be a part of you desperately trying to convince you that it’s not worth it and that it’s better for you to let yourself die, or worse, to make yourself die. Whatever you do, you can’t listen to that voice.
You need to remember every day that your life is worth living. Even if you’re in the apocalypse, things can and will get better. Remind yourself that the dead will not last forever; they’ll have to decompose sooner rather than later, as every day they’re exposed to the elements, they rot a little more and a little more, and, one day, either they’ll decompose entirely, or their muscles will, making them completely inert.
Remind yourself that you will have a future worth working towards, but you’ll only see it if you’re willing to fight.
The most important thing you have in your quest to get through the zombie apocalypse is your will to survive. Without that, you have nothing.
And that’s our Walking Dead Survival Rule Of The Week! There are many things you need to know before going into a zombie apocalypse, but the most important of them may be this: Giving up is NOT an option. Giving up in a zombie apocalypse means death, and the point of everything is to survive. If you want to learn how to survive so that giving up won’t even be an option in your mind, why not pick up a copy of my book, The Rules: A Guide To Surviving The Zombie Apocalypse!
