On June 2, 2019, AMC aired “Here to Help,” the premiere episode of season five of Fear the Walking Dead. This episode was written by showrunners  Andrew Chambliss & Ian Goldberg and directed by Michael Satrazemis. This episode marks the return of Daniel Salazer (Rubén Blades), who had been absent during season 4.

This episode began with a plane crash and introduced two new characters, Dylan and Max, who viewers would later learn are part of a group of kids who have been on their own since their parents died.

Alicia, Morgan, John, June, Althea and Luciana are all on board the crashed plane, with Luciana receiving the most severe wound when a pole impales her. Al radios Strand, informing him of the crash and telling him to watch one of her interviews labeled “Skidmark” as the man on that tape has access to a plane.

The group is eventually saved by Annie, Dylan and Max’s sister, who arrives in a truck. She tells the group they are in an area that is much worse than they could imagine.

This episode finds the group dealing with Logan, who they discover is the former partner of Clayton, the man who gave them the idea to distribute the “take what you need” boxes. But, Logan never had the same views as Clayton and only wanted to reclaim the denim factory.

Strand eventually realizes that the man with the plane is none other than Daniel Salazar. He is shocked at this information.

At the end of the episode, Al returns to the crash site in the rain to investigate the armored walker she killed. She discovers maps and a three-circled symbol with the initials CRM on it. As she radios Morgan to tell him what she found, she is tased by a mystery person wearing the same armor as the walker.

It was a very interesting episode, most especially with the introduction of the CRM to the Fear TWD story.
