Fear the Walking Dead season 7, episode 16

People lie.

I know this shouldn’t surprise people, yet I constantly see people oblivious to this fact regularly; people lie —a lot.

It’s something I imagine that just about everyone does to one degree or another. Some people say they’ve finished a project when they haven’t. Some say they’re listening to someone else talking when they’re not. But, then, some people say patently untrue things, make promises they know they can’t keep, or make accusations when they realize they’re completely false. These are the kinds of lies I’m talking about.

I’ll get to the implications of P.A.D.R.E.’s lies to Madison and what they represent a little bit later; right now, though, I want to make sure that everyone realizes the fact that, in a zombie apocalypse, maybe even especially in a zombie apocalypse, people will LIE.

Whether it’s because they’re trying to protect a resource that they have, trying to defend themselves or their group, or it’s because they’re trying to trick you, people will lie to you.

They might tell you they have something you want or need and are willing to give it to you, but so what? Anyone can say anything that DOESN’T MEAN IT’S TRUE!

When meeting strangers, sometimes even people you think you know in the apocalypse, don’t just trust or believe them out of hand because they say that they’re on your side or say that they’ll help you; it doesn’t make it true.
