When will Tales of the Walking Dead air on AMC and AMC+?
By Renee Hansen
The Walking Dead fandom is ripe with spinoff series that will carry on the universe after the flagship series airs its final episode this fall. Several spinoffs will be filming soon, and one will see its premiere date this summer. Tales of the Walking Dead will be the next release in The Walking Dead universe.
Tales of the Walking Dead is an anthology series that will feature standalone stories of new or established characters within TWDU. Season 1 will consist of six episodes, one of which will see the return of Samantha Morton’s Alpha. There is no news of what story will be told regarding this character, but it is sure to be interesting.
This series is led by showrunner Channing Powell, a Walking Dead universe veteran who has served as a writer for The Walking Dead, Fear the Walking Dead, and now, Tales of the Walking Dead. Michael Satrazemis, who has directed episodes of TWD and Fear TWD, has directed the series premiere and two additional episodes, with Haifaa al-Mansour, Deborah Kampmeie, and Ron Underwood each directing one of the remaining three. Tara Nicole Weyr was scheduled to direct an episode, but a post on social media revealed that Underwood would be directing that episode.
Tales of the Walking Dead release date
Tales of the Walking Dead will premiere on AMC on Sunday, August 14 at 9:00 p.m. ET. On this same day, AMC+ will air episodes one and two of the season, with the remaining episode being available to subscribers one week early.
According to IMDB, the following will star in this series: Olivia Munn, Samantha Morton (Alpha), Jessie T. Usher, Danny Ramirez, Loan Chabanol, Embeth Davidtz, Gage Munroe, Lauren Glazier,
Daniella Pineda, Terry Crews (James Sampson), Anthony Edwards (Kyle Adler), Parker Posey (Blair), Poppy Liu (Amy Zhang), Jillian Bell (Sandra Dolan), Rachael Markarian (Jenna), Eric Tiede (Nolan), Matt Medrano (Mauricio Gonzalez), Ari Loeb (Seventh Man- stunts), Marvin LaVoilette (Todd), William J. Simmons (Wendell Sampson), Nick Basta (Billy), Kevin J. Johnson, Robert Tinsely Zombie (uncredited) and Sarah Graham (Zombie).
There have been reports of other guest stars for this series, but hopefully, those are being kept under wraps as they include some of the recurring characters from the flagship series.
This series has the potential to be something unique within the fandom and explore many avenues of stories never told in The Walking Dead storyline. This could also be expanded to include Fear TWD and TWD World Beyond characters and offshoot stories.
