AMC Networks The Walking Dead will air its final episode this fall. This series has aired for 12 years and spawned a fandom like no other. Beginning June 25 and running until January 1, 2023, the Museum of the Moving Image (MoMI) will be hosting Living with The Walking Dead.

If you are a fan of The Walking Dead universe and find yourself near Astoria, NY, do not miss this once-in-a-lifetime event. Tickets run $14–$20 (free or discounted for MoMI members) and can be purchased via the MoMI website. Keep in mind that on Thursdays from 2:00 – 6:00 p.m., general admission to the museum is free with a $5 add-on for Living with The Walking Dead.

Artist Kirk Manley designed the poster for the event, which will be available for sale in the MoIM shop. It is a fantastic tribute piece featuring Rick, Michonne, Carol, Daryl, Maggie, and Negan.

Living with The Walking Dead exhibit

The exhibit, located in the museum’s Changing Exhibitions Gallery, features original costumes, props, art, storyboards, scripts, and prosthetic makeup material used in the series. SFX guru Greg Nicotero and his team at KNB EFX group are masters at the art of special fx and have created hordes of the undead throughout the course of the series. Fans who attend the exhibit will see an impressive display of their work.

MoMI, with support from Shudder, will also feature screenings accompanying this exhibit. Beginning June 25 and running until July 30, tickets can be purchased for Films of the Dead: Romero & Co.  The screenings will include George A. Romero’s Night of the Living Dead. This zombie movie laid the groundwork for the genre and the indie horror film industry. Other screenings include The Return of the Living Dead, One Cut of the Dead, Shaun of the Dead, The Dead Don’t Die, and more.

The second installment of screenings is titled White Zombies: Nightmares of Empire which will run August 19-September 11. This series will begin with the Bela Lugosi horror classic White Zombie (1932). Other movies in the series include Ouanga, I Walking with a Zombie, Invisible Invaders, Shock Waves and more.

Living with The Walking Dead is a tribute to a series that has made history by being one of the most-watched shows in cable TV history.
