Fans of The Walking Dead are anxiously awaiting the release date for season 11, episode 17. The midseason finale of season 11 aired in April, leaving only eight episodes remaining in the series. This is a reality fans aren’t ready to face but face, but we must. And, it would be better to know when the beginning of the end will start.

AMC and The Walking Dead will be waiting for San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC), which will be held July 21-24, to announce the premiere date for the series’ final eight episodes. This event will hold its first in-person event since 2019, and it will also be the last appearance of the flagship series. The powers that be in the AMC and TWD world are counting on record attendance and want to use this opportunity to make a major announcement such as this during the event.

SDCC is traditionally when the official trailer for the upcoming seasons is released, which means we will also see the trailer for season 11, part 3. There hasn’t been much advertising for The Walking Dead or Tales of the Walking Dead that releases in August. It is thought that AMC is holding out due to SDCC and the attention that any announcements will receive at the event.

The Walking Dead season 11, episode 17

October is known as Walking Dead month, as most seasons used that month for the premiere. This will likely be when we see the first episode of part 3 of the last season. We have long speculated that October 2 will be the premiere date as AMC previously announced a huge fan event for the finale episode to take place in November. There have been no further announcements for this event, but once the premiere date is announced, information will likely be forthcoming.

The final episodes have much to wrap up with the Commonwealth and several stories featuring our favorite characters. But, will we see things resolved, or will many things remain unknown? I feel that nothing will satisfy fans, especially those who aren’t ready to see the end. Another thing the end hinges on is whether or not the movies will ever happen. If the series leaves things open to lead to the movies, then I think there can be satisfaction knowing the story will continue. Perhaps SDCC announcements will give some information about whether or not the movies will ever be completed.

So, hold tight fans. SDCC isn’t too far away, and we will finally get some good information on what is happening in The Walking Dead universe!
