Fear the Walking Dead – an apocalypse will not be easy

Since we’re talking about “knowing what you’re getting into” in a zombie apocalypse, I might as well start laying out what that will be like before getting into anything else that may happen within it.

First and foremost, there’s the dead: There will be millions of them. Suppose we’re talking about what most people consider a zombie apocalypse. In that case, it probably means that the majority of the human population has either died or died and come back, which will translate into millions of the dead wandering around trying to eat everybody else. We all on the same page here? Good.

Secondly, because of this, supplies like food, clean water, sturdy places to live that can protect you from the dead, and the elements, tools, medicine, and weapons with which you can fight off the dead will probably be few and far between. This means you and whoever is with you will likely have to fight other people for said supplies at some point.

And thirdly, other people will become as big of a threat to you as the dead, if not bigger, as they compete with you over limited supplies. Or worse, just decide to be repugnant malcontents bent on hurting other people for their sick pleasure or because they think nothing matters anymore.

If you’re expecting anything less than this, you’re deluding yourself, which will only serve to hurt you in the long run. I don’t want you to do that. I want you to recognize how dangerous things are going to be so you can be better prepared. The sooner you recognize how bad the apocalypse will be, the better off you’ll be.
