Fear the Walking Dead – PADRE
Don’t volunteer your group for something they weren’t expecting
Just before Morgan and Madison were taken aboard a boat to be brought to P.A.D.R.E.’s Coast Guard ferry, Morgan told Madison’s handlers about the fleet of rafts making their way to the gulf and toward their general location, using this information to gain access to their base, and hopefully, Mo.
While I understand he needed to offer them something to gain access to P.A.D.R.E., he’s now roped the rest of the group into this mess, without them having any idea what’s coming. Some of them may even mistakenly think that their soon-to-be captors are benefactors, going off of Alicia’s quest to locate them, not realizing the nefarious operations they’ve been running presumably since the nation collapsed. Basically, Morgan is walking his own group into a trap, and they don’t even know it yet.
Once they become aware of their situation, and the fact that Morgan had some idea of what was going on, and just volunteered them to join him without their consent or even briefing them, they won’t be too happy with him. I also imagine that, should you do something similar to your own group in a zombie apocalypse, they will be equally unhappy with you.
It’s bad enough to walk your group into something when all of you are clueless as to the situation, but, it’s far worse when you have some idea of what’s going on, but they don’t. At that point, you’re basically knowingly roping your group into something dangerous, which they’re unprepared for, without so much as asking them their opinion on the matter. This is the kind of thing that can fracture trust within a group, and make them lose faith in your decisions, and question your actions in the future, even if they’re benevolent. Any breakdown that happens because of that is on you.
And that’s our Walking Dead Survival Rule Of The Week! A zombie apocalypse will be dangerous enough to begin with, but it becomes far worse if you don’t know what you’re getting into with one. Carelessness is not your friend, and the more you know about a situation before jumping into it, the more likely you are to get out alive. If you want to know what you are getting into in the apocalypse, why not pick up a copy of my book, The Rules: A Guide To Surviving The Zombie Apocalypse!
