Fear The Walking Dead, Survival Rule: Stranger Danger
By Liam O'Leary
Fear the Walking Dead season finale
To some people, all you are something to be used.
There are some strangers you’ll meet who, while they may not be hostile to you, are not looking out for your best interests and, in that way, are still a threat to you.
For example, while Morgan didn’t necessarily mean hostile intent to Ava (He was under the impression P.A.D.R.E. would take care of her), he was, nonetheless, intending to sell her out to the nefarious kidnapping ring, which is, to say, the least, not something a friend would do.
You need to be on the lookout for this in a zombie apocalypse because there will be people you meet who, for whatever reason, will only intend to use you to further their own ends. They may be trying to hand you over to another group, they may be intending to use you to help them fight some more significant threat, they may want to use you for some more nefarious purpose, but, whatever the case may be, they’re not there to be your friend, they’re there to use you.
You need to be wary of strangers because, even if they seem friendly, they may have ulterior motives and see you more as a thing to be used rather than a potential ally. You should be alert for your new acquaintances trying to convince you to go with a third party, or to help them fight another group, or participate in some “project” of theirs, because that may be a clue that you’re more useful to them as a tool or a bargaining chip, rather than as a friend or ally.
