Over a year ago, Fear the Walking Dead’s Garret Dillahunt sat down with Undead Walking and discussed his upcoming projects. A new series he talked about was titled Sprung, and he couldn’t hide his enthusiasm for this one. On July 15, fans can see him in the new movie adaptation of Delia Owens’ New York best-selling novel, Where the Crawdads Sing.

The series Sprung will be released on Freevee, Amazon’s free streaming service, formerly known as IMDB TV. Created by Greg Garcia, who is known for My Name is Earl and Raising Hope, Yes, Dear and The Guest Book, all of which he created, produced and directed.

This series will reunite Garcia with Dillahunt, who starred in Raising Hope, along with Sprung costar Martha Plimpton. Dillahunt also serves as an Executive Producer for the series with Jonathan Berry, Gregory Thomas Garcia and Michael Rotenberg.

Sprung tells of a group of inmates who are released early from prison due to the pandemic. Once released, they are informed that there is a shelter in place order they must locate homes and begin acclimation to civilian life during a pandemic. Jack (Dillahunt) and his former cellmate Rooster (Phillip Garcia) move in with Rooster’s mother, Barb (Plimpton). They begin to use their skills as criminals for good, as they only target people who are taking advantage of others during the hardships of the pandemic.

Additional cast includes Shakira Barrera, Clare Gilles, James Earl, Kate Walsh, Camden Garcia, Susan Ruttan, Fred Grandy, Myrna Cabello and Zach Strum.

The series will release the first two episodes on Amazon Freevee on August 19. The remaining seven episodes will release weekly, with a one-hour finale airing on September 16.
