Colman Domingo is a man of many talents, some of which include actor, writer and director. Fans of Fear the Walking Dead know him as the self-serving Victor Strand. He will begin filming the eighth season of this series this summer. Another series he stars in is the wildly popular teen drama Euphoria which airs on HBO.

The series, created by Sam Levinson, is based on an Israeli mini-series of the same name. Zendaya portrayed the main character Rue, the series narrator and teen drug addict fresh out of rehab trying to find a fresh start in life. Domingo portrays Ali Muhammed, a drug addict currently in recovery who speaks at Narcotics Anonymous meetings and becomes the sponsor for Rue.

Euphoria takes a deep dive into the lives of a group of high school students and their experiences with identity, trauma, drugs, self-harm, family, friendships, love, and sex.

Recently Euphoria was nominated for several Primetime Emmy and Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards, totaling sixteen in all. Domingo was nominated for an Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series for his performance in the episode “Ruminations: Big and Little Bullys.”

Colman Domingo – Fear the Walking Dead and other roles

Domingo has portrayed Victor Strand since season 1 of Fear TWD.  During the seventh season, his long-time friend and oftentimes ally, Alicia (Alycia Debnam-Carey), declared war on him and vowed to take his Tower. Things ended positively between the pair, but Alicia set off on her own, with the actress leaving the series. In season eight, Strand will reunite with Alicia’s mother, Madison (Kim Dickens), another character with whom he has had a roller coaster of a relationship. Season 7 fell flat with viewers, but perhaps season 8 will pick things up again.

Fans of Domingo will see him in some new roles soon. He plays Mister in a musical adaptation of The Color Purple, which has just wrapped filming. This film will release in December 2022.

Next, in his first leading role, Domingo will portray Bayard Rustin, the gay/civil rights activist who organized the 1963 March on Washington in the movie Rustin. The film is produced by Barack Obama and Michelle Obama’s production company Higher Ground Productions, for Netflix.

On July 16, 2022, fans will hear Domingo’s soothing voice in a short story written by his husband, Raúl Domingo, who also directs with Jeffig Le Bars and Jérémie Balais titled New Moon.
