Comic Con 2022 has given us the official trailer for the newest Walking Dead spinoff, Tales of the Walking Dead. This series is an anthology series that will tell six new stories with several new characters and one familiar face, Samantha Morton’s Alpha. The panel consisted of Terry Crews, Samantha Morton and Danny Ramirez, who all shared their excitement about the series and being part of TWD Family.

During the panel, Crews shared about joining Tales of the Walking Dead and the impact the zombie genre had on his life. Most especially when he was younger and saw Duane Jones, a Black hero, in Night of the Living Dead; this was such an inspiration for him.

Morton shared that her episode of Tales of the Walking Dead will be from her perspective, and the story will be before she becomes the Whisperers leader. One thing she shared that was mind-blowing is that what we saw previously was Lydia’s remembrance of the past and who knows what was true. This could truly change Alpha’s transformation and what made her become who we knew as Alpha.  She also stated she wasn’t opposed to an Alpha spinoff.

Ramirez, in his first SDCC panel, stated he was drawn to Tales of TWD was how human and small the stories are.

Additional case members include Poppy Liu, Olivia Munn, Parker Posey, Jillian Bell, Daniella Pineda, Embeth Davidtz, Loan Chabanol, Anthony Edwards, and Matt Medrano.

Tales of the Walking Dead Trailer

It seems like we have waited forever for this trailer. It is finally here, and it is fabulous! Just hearing Alpha’s voice again gives the viewer goosebumps. The run time is a bit over a minute and a half, but you can see the different tones for each story and get a glimpse of the characters and how differently they are handling the apocalypse.

Tales of the Walking Dead premieres on AMC on Sunday, August 14 at 9 p.m. ET. The first two episodes of this season will air on AMC+ that same date, with the remaining episode airing on AMC+ one week early.
