The Walking Dead series will end on November 20, 2022, when the final episode airs on AMC. Fans anticipate and dread the last episode, but the fandom is far from over. There are numerous spinoffs in the works to keep the fandom alive.

During Comic Con 2022, a shocking announcement was made. A new spinoff starring Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and Michonne (Danai Gurira) is being created. This is in addition to the four others already announced or in production. The fact that Rick and Michonne will return is a massive win for TWD Family, as both characters have been greatly missed.

Another bit of information from the event might surprise fans of the series.

The Walking Dead season 11 won’t set up spinoffs

Showrunner Angela Kang and COO Scott M. Gimple stated that the last eight episodes of The Walking Dead are designed to bring that story to its conclusion and nothing else. Many have thought that these final episodes will set things up to see Maggie and Negan head off on their mission and Daryl off on his. But, that is not the case. The creators wanted the main series to have closure with doors left open to future possibilities.

Many fans still hope to see many past cast members in flashbacks and an appearance by Rick Grimes in the final episodes, but it doesn’t sound like that will happen. But only time will tell.

The Walking Dead will return to AMC with season 11 episode17 on Sunday, October 2 at 9 p.m. Et. This same day AMC+ will most likely air episodes 17 and 18. The full trailer for the final episodes is action-packed and sees our survivors in significant conflict with the Commonwealth and hordes of walkers.
