"He doesn’t want Rick back, or Hershel. With them gone, he’s got everything he wants and no one to tell him otherwise."

In another anti-Shane line from “Triggerfinger” (2012), Dale predicted events almost like he was a psychic. Where was your crystal ball, Dale? Well, he wasn’t actually a psychic, just pretty smart. No one needs to say, “Dale Horvath was a genius,” but he was definitely one of the more perceptive Walking Dead characters.

"This is a young man’s life, and it is worth more than a five-minute conversation! We kill someone because we can’t decide what else to do with him? You saved him and now look at us. He’s been tortured. He’s gonna be executed. How are we any better than those people that we’re so afraid of?"

In addition to being moralistic, this line from “Judge, Jury, Executioner” (2012) clarifies how stupid the group was being. Why would they kill Randall, who they had risked their lives to save? It just didn’t make much sense, did it? That’s why I personally like this angle from Dale because it’s not just about preaching right and wrong but demonstrating how they are foolish. The whole situation with Randall was really something else.

"The world we knew is gone, but keeping our humanity? That’s a choice."

From the same episode as quote #9, is this really even necessary to comment on? There is some very basic morality right here, but that’s precisely why it’s powerful.
