Hilarie Burton Morgan did an outstanding job portraying Negan’s (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) wife Lucille in The Walking Dead episode “Here’s Negan.” She brought to life the story of Negan’s lost love and favorite weapon’s namesake, which also told the tale of what made Negan one of the series’ most hated villains. You may not know, but Burton Morgan is part of an impactful true crime series titled It Couldn’t Happen Here that airs on SundanceTV and AMC+.
It Couldn’t Happen Here isn’t your ordinary true crime series. Burton Morgan highlights murder cases in small-town America that generally don’t get the press that cases in larger cities would. The title comes from the phrase that small-town residents utter when they see all the awful things happening in other parts of the world. But, when tragedy does hit a small town, it rocks the local community like no other.
New social media pages, ICHHSTORIES on Instagram and Twitter, have been launched as a gathering spot to spread more information about these cases and help people get involved in solving these crimes. It Couldn’t Happen Here also has a linktr.ee page set up with more information on the individual cases.

The second season of the series will feature eight new cases, and Burton Morgan is asking for everyone’s help to use this series to make a difference. Several of these crimes have seen lawyers and judges disbarred, but the cases have never been reexamined. This sees many innocent people imprisoned and numerous guilty ones roaming free. Justice can be served by shedding light on these cases, involving more people and finding out the truth.
Burton Morgan has stated that this has been the most important job of her life.
SundanceTV and AMC+ will begin airing new episodes of It Couldn’t Happen Here on September 1.
