Tales of the Walking Dead is the next spinoff in The Walking Dead universe. Season 1, episode 1, will premiere on AMC on August 14 at 9 p.m. ET. If you are an AMC+ subscriber, you can view the first episode on Thursday, August 11. The first season has six brand new stories featuring several new characters, and did we hear there is a musical episode?

During an interview with Entertainment Weekly showrunner Channing Powell and Tales of the Walking Dead, actors Terry Crews, Samantha Morton, and Danny Ramirez shared some great information about the series.

One thing viewers need to remember is that Tales of the Walking Dead is six unique stories set apart from the flagship series even though they take place in the same world. Even if you have never watched an episode of The Walking Dead or its spinoffs, you can watch this series.

Crews shared that he has been a fan since the beginning and is honored to be a part of this universe. He loved meeting all of the original actors at Comic Con. Ramirez shared a bit about his character having some major psychological issues in his story and being stuck in a haunted house of sorts. Morton shared that she was shocked by the twist in Alpha/Dee’s story.

Tales of the Walking Dead season 2?

After previewing four of the six episodes, the fandom needs to see more of this series. Since Tales of the Walking Dead features standalone stories, the sky is the limit to what could be featured in this series.

And speaking of no limits, Powell shared that there has been a musical episode written for this series. The entire script is complete, but with the tight production schedule for a first season, it was impossible to pull off. But, she did say that if there were a second or third season, she would push for this episode to become a reality.

This is in keeping with a comment made by Walking Dead’s chief operating officer and Tales co-creator, Scott M. Gimple, regarding the series:

"“We may be doing different formats and possibility utilizing animation, music, different mediums. We want to surprise people every week with what they will be getting.”"
