Terry Crews has joined TWD Family in his portrayal of Joe in the new spinoff series Tales of the Walking Dead. Fans of Crews know he is a fantastic actor who loves to flex his comedic abilities as well as his well-toned muscles, to the delight of us all. He stars in the first episode of the new series “Evie/Joe,” which is a road trip of sorts.

Crews stars as Joe, a prepper, someone who was prepared for any end-of-the-world scenario. He survived by being well stocked and using his intellect to think before he acts, and then tragedy strikes. This makes him rethink the way he has been living, and he sets off to find someone he knows to cure his loneliness.

Along the way, he encounters someone else first, a woman named Evie, played by Olivia Munn. Evie and Joe couldn’t be more different in how they view the world. The unlikely pair head off together both in search of someone they believe they need in their lives.

Crew and Munn worked together on The Newsroom’s HBO series before pairing up in The Walking Dead universe. The pair obviously have great on-screen chemistry and do an outstanding job of melding comedic elements with the horror elements of an apocalyptic setting.

Another face you will see in this episode is Kersti Bryan, who also makes her TWDU debut in this episode. Without spoiling anything, I will say that she did a fantastic job in her role as well.

Crews took to social media to hype up the episode.

Tales of the Walking Dead will premiere on AMC with “Evie/Joe” on Sunday, August 14 at 9 p.m. ET. This episode is currently available on AMC+, with episode 2, “Blair/Gina,” premiering on the subscription service on August 14.
