It’s been a little while since I’ve had a Survival Rule Of The Week (admittedly, I was sick the last week or so, and it just sapped my will to write one), but after watching the first episode of Tales Of The Walking DeadI have found my inspiration again.

The first episode of Tales of TWD was, quite frankly, something I’ve been wanting from The Walking Dead universe for a while now: For all intents and purposes, a full-length webisode serving as a self-contained story following a random character. In this case, it was a character after my own heart, Joe.

Joe (Terry Crews) was a fun character, a doomsday prepper who wound up being ultimately vindicated when the zombie apocalypse struck. However, Joe, along with his new friend, Evie (Olivia Munn), and his would-be love interest, Sandra (Kersti Bryan) made some serious mistakes in this week’s episode, owing largely to making the crucial error of making assumptions about people and situations.

In fact, I’m pretty sure that all the problems people had in this week’s Tales of TWD spawned from variations on this mistake, and so, for my first Survival Rule Of The Week for this new series, I’m going to focus on this issue of making assumptions, and why it is something you should strive to avoid in a zombie apocalypse.
