The Walking Dead final scene still in production, possible post credit scene
By Renee Hansen
As The Walking Dead’s season 11 part 3 premiere quickly approaches, fans are eager to absorb any new information about what’s to come. There are fascinating theories for the final episodes, including who will die, whether or not previous characters will appear, and how the show will close this chapter of The Walking Dead universe. Entertainment Weekly has learned that the final scene is still up in the air and asked Scott M. Gimple about the possibility of a post-credit scene for the series finale episode that will air on November 20.
First of all, it is exciting to learn that production for the series finale is in the works, and it sounds like the creators are unsure how to end this series. Gimple stated, “Honestly, we’re literally just working right now on a couple of things, so there are a couple of ways it could go.”
It’s unclear if he references the final scene or the possible post-credit scene. When asked if there would be a post-credit scene, he replied, “Will there be a tag scene? I just got to say, maybe. We’re up to some things, so maybe.”
The Walking Dead season 11
The Walking Dead isn’t well known for utilizing these after-credits scenes like the MCU, but after the series finale for the second spinoff series, The Walking Dead: World Beyond, viewers were made privy to some extremely interesting information in a scene that ran after the episode.
This scene was set in France and featured some video footage of a familiar face. Dr. Jenner (Noah Emmerich) from the CDC in season 1 of The Walking Dead. A woman was watching archived footage of messages he sent before the world went dark. Evidently, the French came upon a variant walker that Jenner had never seen in the US. This walker was faster, stronger, and possibly had some memory retention.
The lab where this scene takes place also had the words “the dead were born here” in French painted across the ductwork. This made everyone think that this outbreak was started in France, but many believe only the variant was created there. Now, this scene is said to be tied to the Daryl spinoff series that will be filmed and set in France.
Does that mean if there is a post-credit scene at the end of The Walking Dead series it will be tied to either The Walking Dead: Dead City or the Rick and Michonne spinoff? It is very exciting to think we may get a glimpse or clue as to what either series will be about.
The Walking Dead returns to AMC on Sunday, October 2 at 9 p.m. ET with season 11, episode 17 “Lockdown.”
