Tales of the Walking Dead episode 5

6) If we’re to take Embeth Davidtz’s understanding of the timeline to be true, the fact that Davon is trying to make his way to Montreal and the fact that neither Nora nor Amanda attempt to dissuade him suggests that, somehow, the city (Or, at least, part of it) managed to survive the outbreak and Operation: Cobalt. How they managed to pull that off, considering that, according to what we learned in Fear The Walking Dead, Vancouver was destroyed, is left up in the air.

7) This episode takes place in Madawaska, Maine. Not only is this the first story in the Walking Dead universe to take place in the state of Maine, but also the first to take place in New England in general.

8) The episode synopsis for this episode on AMC+ describes it as a “noir-ish thriller”. Nowhere is this inspiration clearer than as Davon investigates Amanda’s garage, where somber, jazzy horn music serves as the soundtrack, something which is a staple in classic noir and noir-inspired films.

9) Amanda is played by Embeth Davidtz, who also played Sheila, the eventual queen of the deadites in Army Of Darkness. This makes her the first alum of a (sort of) zombie movie to appear in Tales of The Walking Dead, something that was seen pretty frequently in Fear TWD.

10) We learn through one of Davon’s flashbacks that he lost his leg in a run-in with another survivor earlier in the apocalypse. The fact he’s acclimated to his prosthetic (Which seems to be fashioned out of a large spring) suggests it happened to him a long time ago.
