For some reason, many fans of The Walking Dead are dying to see Daryl (Norman Reedus) hook up with someone in the series. But, when it finally happened with Leah (Lynn Collins), fans weren’t happy. They had other characters in mind as a perfect match for Daryl.

For quite some time, fans have “shipped” Carol Peletier (Melissa McBride) and Daryl as Caryl. The duo are quite compatible, have similar backgrounds of abuse, and have been the best of friends for years. Living in an apocalypse, your friend circle isn’t that large, and often when you do get close to someone, they die.

Carol and Daryl are the two remaining characters in the series from season 1. Shippers were ecstatic when it was announced that the duo would have a spinoff series of their own. But, since then, things have changed and McBride will no longer be a part of the new series. Everyone says she has more stories to tell, but it is unclear how those stories will be told.

Another group ships Donnie, the pairing of Daryl with Lauren Ridloff’s Connie. It appeared that something might be brewing between the two until she was assumed killed in a cave-in that Carol accidentally set off.

Connie returned in season 11, alive and well, and other than a quick hug, nothing has transpired between her and Daryl.

In an interview with TV Line, showrunner Angela Kang stated this about the pair:

"“There’s definitely a vibe there,” Kang acknowledges. Where it takes Daryl and Connie, “people will just have to watch and see.”"

A very vague comment, but it gives hope to people who feel Daryl needs someone to spend his life with. If this does happen, could Connie accompany Daryl on his travels to France?

Yes, Daryl’s spinoff will be filmed and set in France. It is unknown how he will get there, but he will encounter the variant walkers seen in the coda of The Walking Dead: World Beyond series finale.
