Who is Medina Senghore that plays Annie on The Walking Dead?
By Renee Hansen
The Walking Dead premiered season 11, part 3, on October 2. This is the eleventh and final season of the series. The fandom will continue with several spinoff series in 2023. One character who really stood out in episode 17, “Lockdown,” was Annie.
This article contains spoilers for The Walking Dead season 11, episode 17, “Lockdown.”
Medina Senghore portrays Annie Smith, Negan’s (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) wife. They are expecting a child, so he is understandably concerned about her. In this week’s episode, he decided to head into the Commonwealth while she stays back with Maggie (Lauren Cohan), Daryl (Norman Reedus, Aaron (Ross Marquand) and Gabriel (Seth Gilliam) while they try to take down Lance Hornsby (Josh Hamilton).
Annie proved a worthy ally when she suggested they head to the sewer tunnels to plan a sneak attack on Hornsby and his men. The original plan had to be altered, but they were able to get the upper hand.
Introduced in season 11, episode 13, “Warlords,” Annie was a part of Negan’s new group Riverside. They made enemies of the Commonwealth (CW) when it was thought they took the CW’s guns. She appeared to be a leader of Riverside or at least someone the others looked to for advice.
It seems Annie will be important in the upcoming episodes. Let’s hope she doesn’t die; we don’t need to see another pregnant woman die in this series.
