The Walking Dead season 11 episode 17 Lockdown MVP
By Renee Hansen
Fans were excited to celebrate the return of The Walking Dead with the first episode of the final eight on October 2. This episode was titled “Lockdown,” and it was an action-packed episode that set things up for our survivors to take on the Commonwealth and their unhinged Deputy Goveroner Lance Hornsby (Josh Hamilton).
Each week we pick an MVP of the episode. This person is someone who goes over and above to do something heroic or doing something exceptional during the episode.
This week we saw many going to extremes to ensure the safety of our survivors. Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) infiltrated the Commonwealth for the first time and quickly set up his plan that he and Daryl (Norman Reedus) organized. Negan’s wife, Annie (Medina Senghore), stuck her neck out to help Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and the others.
Carol (Melissa McBride) always does what is needed to protect her family and does so again in this episode. Rosita (Christian Serratos) aided the protection of the community by helping Mercer (Michael James Shaw) with an advancing horde of variant walkers.
But, this week, we are giving this honor to someone who doesn’t always get much screen time but was instrumental in the safety of the children this week.
THE MVP FOR LOCKDOWN – JERRY
The Walking Dead – Jerry
Jerry is portrayed by a teddy bear of a man named Cooper Andrews. He was introduced in season 7 as the advisor and bodyguard of King Ezekiel (Khary Payton) of the Kingdom. Since that time, Jerry has proven himself time and again.
In season 11, Jerry has a family to protect, with his wife Nabila (Nadine Marissa) and his three children. They chose to relocate to the Commonwealth as they most likely felt this was safest for their children.
In this week’s episode, Jerry took up the job of protecting Judith (Cailey Fleming), RJ (Antony Azor) and Gracie (Annabelle Holloway). He selflessly took on this job and ensured the children were safe. They were being pursued by Hornsby’s hench people, Roman (Michael Tourek) and Shira (Chelle Ramos), or fake Stephanie, who were trying to abduct them.
Bravo Jerry!
During the Talking Dead preview special, Andrews shared his excitement as Jerry will take up a sword in the series’ final episodes.
The Walking Dead returns to AMC on Sunday, October 9, with a new episode, “A New Deal.”
