Who is April on The Walking Dead?
By Renee Hansen
AMC premiered the first episode of season 11, part 3 of The Walking Dead Sunday, October 2. This was the beginning of the final installment of the series last season. It was an action-packed episode that ended on a fantastic cliffhanger.
One storyline that left some viewers confused was that of the parents (played by Preston James Hiller and Korbi Dean) of a girl named April (Wynn Everett). They claimed that Governor Milton’s (Laila Robins) son Sebastian (Teo Rapp-Olsson), was responsible for her death. The confusing part, people didn’t remember who April was.
In part 2, episode 14, “The Rotten Core,” Sebastian threatened Rosita (Christian Serratos) and Daryl (Norman Reedus) with harm to their children if they didn’t do a job for him. His mother had cut off Sebastian, and his funds were running low. He knew of a location with cash in a safe, but it was overrun by walkers. Being the sniveling coward, he wouldn’t risk his life to do the task.
The cash is located in a safe room, and when Daryl and Rosita arrive, they hear a woman locked inside. This is April.
The Walking Dead – April
April was a member of another group that Sebastian sent on the same mission, but she was the lone survivor. She told them that a man offered to assist her with her debt if she successfully retrieved the funds from the safe room.
As they leave the walker-infested house, April draws attention to herself and is overtaken and devoured by the walkers.
Connie (Lauren Ridloff) and her group, aided by the governor’s assistant, Max (Margot Bingham), uncovered the truth about Sebastian and his underhanded schemes. Many people have come up missing, it is assumed Sebastian has used them for missions like the one April was killed in. Connie created a rogue publication distributed to the Commonwealth’s residents with this information. This is why they are protesting and demanding justice in the most recent episode.
April’s story was short on screen, but her death will undoubtedly be the key to taking down Sebastian.
The Walking Dead returns to AMC with a new episode on Sunday, October 9.
