The Walking Dead is quickly heading to the airing of its final episode on November 20. As this date draws near, we are all becoming quite sentimental about this series. During the recent episode of Talking Dead, Norman Reedus, who has played Daryl Dixon since season 1, talked about some of his favorite scenes from the series.

Talking Dead host Chris Hardwick asked Reedus if he has a scene that resonates the most, and he commented, “Yeah, like 300 scenes.”

He listed a few of his favorites.

Cherokee Rose – this was quite the emotional scene as he brings Carol a Cherokee Rose and returns with no good news about locating her daughter Sophia. He brought her a Cherokee Rose in a makeshift beer bottle vase. He then tells her of the story of the Cherokee Rose and how it blooms as a symbol of hope from the tears of the Cherokee women who lost their children along the Trail of Tears.

"“I’m not fool enough to believe there’s any flowers blooming for my brother, but I believe this one bloomed for your little girl.” – Daryl Dixon"

Killing Merle – This scene was enough to break everyone’s hearts. Daryl’s brother Merle attempted to redeem himself by killing the Governor, who had been terrorizing our survivors. When Daryl heads out to find him, he is already turned. Daryl is overcome with grief and then proceeds to take out years of anger and frustration on the remained version of his brother.

Beside the vehicle with Rick – Daryl got mixed up with a terrible group, the Claimers, and the final scene with this group was a brutal one. Rick tore out the leader Joe’s throat with his teeth when his men threatened to rape Carl and Michonne. Daryl came upon this scene and tried to make peace, but it didn’t work, and this was the end of the Claimers. Sitting beside the truck after this scene, Daryl and Rick have a heart-to-heart where Rick tells him that he is his brother. It was an emotional scene, and it meant the world to Daryl, who never really felt like he fit anywhere.

Flipping off the house w/ Beth after the prison’s fall, Daryl and Beth found themselves together looking for any survivors of their group. One of these evenings, Beth, wanting to try alcohol for the first time, drinks moonshine with Daryl and plays a game of never have I ever. We learn Daryl is a “mean drunk,” and this doesn’t go well. He eventually breaks down, feeling that Hershel’s death is his fault. After this, they talk more, and Beth tells him he will be the last man standing. They decide to burn down the house, using the rest of the moonshine. As the house burns, they both flip the house off.

He also reminisced about the photo from season 2 with everyone on Hershel’s porch. He arrived late to the shoot and remembered everyone taking their places in character. Jon Bernthal took his spot up front, making his “Shane” face, and since he was late, Reedus went to the back, as the loner Daryl was at that time. He said seeing them all line up for the photo was interesting, fitting right into their characters.
