Fear the Walking Dead’s Austin Amelio cast in action comedy Hitman

Austin Amelio is known in The Walking Dead universe for his portrayal of Dwight. This character began his journey in the main series and then crossed over to the first spinoff, Fear the Walking Dead. During his career, he has had several memorable roles, and now, The Hollywood Reporter has announced that he has been cast in Richard Linklater’s action comedy, Hitman. 

Linklater served as director and co-wrote the film with Glen Powell, who stars as Gary Johnson, an investigator acting as a hit man to catch those hiring people for a hit. The film is based on actual events from an article from the Texas Monthly written by Skip Hollandsworth. Also starring Adria Arjona, Retta, Molly Bernard and Anthony Michael Frederick (Better Call Saul).

Amelio has been added to the cast, which reunites him with Linklater as he starred in Linklater’s, Everybody Wants Some as Nesbit.

Walking Dead universe Dwight

Fear the Walking Dead is currently filming its eighth seasoning in Savannah, Georgia. In season 7, Amelio’s Dwight and wife Sherry (Christine Evangelista) discover they are expecting a child. The couple sailed off with the other characters to locate a new and safe place to live.

Throughout season 7, the survivors worked to find a safe place to live amidst nuclear fallout from a detonation bomb. Early in the season, Dwight and Sherry formed a group called the Dark Horses that used vigilante justice to protect and punish those who break their code. They would eventually join forces with Alicia (Alycia Debnam-Carey).

What is in store for Dwight and Sherry in season 8? HOpefully, they can find a safe place to raise their child.

Austin Amelio – other projects

THR stated that Amelio recently wrapped up an indie production, Phyliss, Silenced. 

He will star in a short, Lovebug, with fellow Fear TWD actors Alycia Debman-Carey and Colby Minifie, that will release in November 2022.

Amelio will star in and direct a short titled Okay, Sugar written by Temple Baker, who also stars.
