Ryan Hurst is known in The Walking Dead universe for his fantastic portrayal of the Whisperer’s number two, Beta. Hurst was a prime choice to play this character featured in the comic story. Size alone made him ideal, but once he put on that mask, he became the brutal sociopath who did Alpha’s (Samantha Morton) bidding. Another role you may not know him for is that of Milligan in the Disney+ series The Mysterious Benedict Society.

The series is based on the young adult book series written by Trenton Lee Stewart, which has sold over 3 million copies in the US. The story tells of four gifted children recruited by Mr. Benedict (Tony Hale) to infiltrate the Learning Institute for Veritas and Enlightenment (L.I.V.E) located on Nomansan Island. The children are tasked with stopping the school’s founder Dr. LD Curtain (also Hale), from using the Whisperer machine, which puts ideas and thoughts into people’s minds.

Hurst portrays Milligan, a former government agent assigned protector of the children, Mr. Benedict, and his associates.

The children each possess special skills making them desirable for the mission ahead of them. Reynie Muldoon (Mystic Inscho) is intelligent and resourceful. George “Sticky” Washington is brilliant and remembers everything he reads. Kate Wetherall (Emmy DeOliveira) has her trusty bucket of tools. Constance Conraire (Marta Kessler) solves problems with her unconventional solutions.

This season the children will discover that Mr. Benedict and Number Two (Kristen Schaal) have been kidnapped. They are sent on a scavenger hunt to foil Curtain’s latest scheme and locate their lost associates.
