The Walking Dead is back! Our heroes are planning for war with the Commonwealth, and in a zombie apocalypse, it always pays to have a plan.

With the first of the final eight episodes of The Walking Dead in the books, it’s about time we had the first Survival Rule Of The Week to go with it.

Picking up from where the midseason finale left off, our main cast is now in a state of war with the Commonwealth, as Lance Hornsby has invaded (And possibly wiped out) Oceanside, taken over Hilltop and Alexandria and was attempting to hunt down Daryl, Maggie, Aaron, and Father Gabriel, with the four desperately attempting to both stop him, and throw a wrench into his scheme to take over.

In pursuit of this, Daryl, Maggie, Aaron, Father Gabriel, along with Negan and his wife, Annie, decided to come up with a plan to stop Hornsby, which involves fighting him and his troops in Virginia. At the same time, Negan (Who is unfamiliar to the Commonwealth), infiltrates and links up with Carol and the rest of the group ensconced there. Carol, not surprisingly, already has plans of her own, hoping to find another way to fight Hornsby that will put a stop to him before Daryl and the others are overwhelmed by the sheer strength of numbers at his disposal.

All of this made me smile because it was a perfect display of something that I’ve been saying for a long time: In a zombie apocalypse, it always pays to have a plan. For this week’s The Walking Dead, Survival Rule Of The Week, we’re going to tackle why it’s so important to plan for the zombie apocalypse and the things that you’ll encounter in one so that, should one ever happen, you’re already ahead of the game.
