The Walking Dead season 11 episode 19 Variant release date
By Renee Hansen
The Walking Dead returns to AMC this week with episode 18, “A New Deal.” This episode picks up immediately following events from episode 17, “Lockdown.” This episode ended with a significant cliffhanger, and fans are excited to see what’s to come.
“A New Deal” will see Carol (Melissa McBride) negotiate with Governor Milton (Laila Robins) to keep her friends out of trouble. In the previous episode, we saw Carol and Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) bring Sebastian (Teo Rapp-Olsson) to his mother with the idea of pinning his crimes on Lance Hornsby (Josh Hamilton).
This episode will follow Aaron (Ross Marquand), Jerry (Cooper Andrews), Lydia (Cassady McClincy) and Elijah (Okea Eme-Akwari) as they travel to Oceanside to inform them of a plan. The last we saw of this community, it was taken over by Hornsby in the name of the Commonwealth. He was then seen flipping a coin to decide their fate.
Despite its current issues, the Commonwealth continues with the Founder’s Day festivities.
AMC will air season 11, episode 18, “A New Deal,” on Sunday, October 9, at 9 p.m. ET.
The Walking Dead Variant
The next episode, “Variant,” is now available on AMC+. This episode will air on AMC on Sunday, October 16, at 9 p.m. ET.
Episode 19, “Variant,” was written by Vivian Tse and directed by Karen Gaviola. Tse has written several episodes in seasons 9-11 and has served as Executive Story Editor since Season 9. This will be Gaviola’s directorial debut for The Walking Dead.
We’ve seen clips of Eugene (Josh McDermitt) in the trailer in a courtroom, and it looks like he is on trial for something. The synopsis for this episode tells us that he will go on the run with Mercer (Michael James Shaw) tasked to track him down. Perhaps Eugene’s mistakes in the Commonwealth have finally caught up with him.
This episode will also see Aaron and his group encountering complications on the road.
The title “Variant” has viewers certain this episode will reveal the variant walkers that have been seen in the trailer and showrunner Angela Kang has talked about.
